Small in size and lightweight, the Tao is using a 15µm pitch HgCdTe Focal Plane Array along with Senopex pioneering long-life cooler technology, enabling all the performance of a long-range capable cooled MWIR sensor could be integrated in a small and concrete package. The Tao is available for development of solutions for handheld thermal imager, UAV, PTZ system and many other applications.

|TAO Cooled Thermal Imaging Module
The cooled thermal imaging technology typically has higher thermal sensitivity and better performance with regard to thermal imagery. The cooled thermal imaging devices are designed for the most demanding applications.
Secondly, the cooled thermal device is more cost-effective than uncooled for long-range detection of over 5km. Long-range thermal infrared surveillance applications require long focal length lenses, and the cost of lenses increases rapidly with the focal length for uncooled camera systems and rather slowly for cooled systems. As a result, even though the cost of a cooled camera core is much higher than an uncooled core, the system cost (core plus lens) for uncooled surpasses cooled system cost at a focal length on the order of 350mm. Useful imaging of human-sized targets at multi-km ranges requires focal lengths that exceed 350mm. Therefore, multi-km imaging of human-sized targets is less expensive with a cooled camera system, at least for the initial system cost.
